Deborah is originally from Marblehead, MA. However, has had the wonderful opportunity to live in such climate friendly locations as Kaneohe, HI, Carmel, CA, and Virginia Beach, VA. She spent her college years in Philadelphia, PA, at Penn/Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. While in school she worked at the Federal Reserve Bank’s accounting department. This, of course, produced right brain/left brain conflicts. Deborah spent the 80’s as a Realtor and in 1991 progressing into “corporate life” in sales management in the Boston area until fall of 2000. She came back to work in the Newport County area in spring of 2001 in the mortgage industry, a small community bank. Deborah has been with Province Mortgage Associates, Inc. since 2008 taking pride in her strong customer service bent and detail orientation. It should be noted that Deborah takes extreme pride in working for a company which is considered one of RI’s top places to work. As a Mortgage Advisor with Province Mortgage Associates, Inc., she enjoys her participation in the Newport County Board of Realtors (NCBR) as an affiliate continuing to work closely with her Realtor referral partners. In Deborah’s capacity as an affiliate in the NCBR, she now teaches mortgage finance for the NCBR having been accredited by the Dept of Business Regulation for the state of RI. She enjoys training Realtors to have a basic understanding of the ever changing world of credit and mortgage financing. Deborah spent 15 wonderful years married to a retired Royal Navy officer, Peter Merritt, only to have him pass away in 2000. She chairs the Merritt Neighborhood Fund for the Aquidneck Land Trust which was named for her late husband who has been considered the visionary behind the land conservation movement on Aquidneck Island. Deborah is now very fortunate to have another wonderful man in her life, Jerry Harrington, accountant in Newport, RI. Jerry is a Newporter who is very involved with the Newport sister city of Kinsale, Ireland. Deborah and Jerry play golf, ski and travel together. They especially enjoy their frequent trips to Disneyworld.
